AP Study: 4 out of 5 American’s Financially Doomed

Roanoke Times, 7-29-2013, Pg 1, 12: AP reports 4 in 5 American adults will face poverty in lifetime.

Clearly this is a realistic report on the Obama Economic Programs to redistribute the wealth and reduce job creation and stifle businesses and massively grow the federal bureaucracy.

What’s really amazing is that Obama is on an economic-tour talking about the US economy as if he just landed in a space-ship and thinks he’s an inter-galactic observer.
Someone should tell him – he’s the president – has been for over 4 years – and he and his policies are RESPONSIBLE for the state of the union’s economy!

Obama’s redistribution of wealth programs, super-regulation programs, energy infrastructure-regression programs and his obscene anti-business “You Didn’t Build That” mentality are at the root cause for the most dismal economic recovery since 1930.

Federal Government Killing Oregon’s Owls

Let me get this straight.

The Federal Government stopped 90% of Oregon’s logging to protect Spotted Owls so that they could have a nice place to live and have lots of little Owls and flourish and prosper.

That didn’t work out (something about competing species in nature) -- so -- Now these same Government Genius’ are going to kill 3600 Bard Owls in an “experiment” to see if that will help the Spotted Owls to “come back home”. And they have the gall to call all this "wildlife management"!

This has to be true – you can’t make up “stuff” like this!

A Weiner For NYC Mayor

As a follow-up to his prior “apologies” for “sexting” himself to women, Anthony Weiner is before the press again “apologizing” for more gross photos sent to young women.

This time, the leading candidate for NYC Mayor, had his wife standing with him explaining to the world that he’s really a nice guy – he just has this little thing about taking lewd pictures of himself and sending them to young women.
As any Madison Ave advertising executive will tell you: "It pays to advertise"!

Of particular interest is that “The Wife” is a former close associate of none other than Hillary Clinton! Talk about a weird coincidence, or perhaps not? At any rate, NYC deserves a Weiner for Mayor and a new icon to replace the Empire State Building. It will all work out in the end.

And not to be left out of the limelight, Elliot Spitzer, former NY AG and Governor, who kept very busy keeping high-end prostitutes in business, is now running for NYC controller. Apparently his vast experience funding his prostitute-obsession makes him uniquely qualified to handle NYC finances that share many similar attributes.
Yet another highly qualified Democrat that NYC well deserves.

Roanoke Times Editors Chagrined Over Debate Whopper

Roanoke Times, 7-23-2013, Pg 11: Editorial: McAuliffe’s debate whopper.

Wow I thought! The RT Editors picked up on McAuliffe’s gross misstatement of a report on allegations that Cuccinelli violated conflict-of-interest laws and the RT Editors were “defending” Cuccinelli. Not so fast! Next item says “The Democrat misrepresents a prosecutor’s report on Cuccinelli and clouds a legitimate campaign issue.”

In other words, “we’re” not chagrined that McAuliffe “misstated” the facts. We’re upset because he did it “badly”. He should have called the RT and “we” would have helped him with his debating and language skills.

In reflection, during the last Presidential debate, a significant liberal journalist was the moderator and jumped into a debate item (the Benghazi Radical Muslim Terrorist Attack) and immediately helped Obama through what was clearly not only a “Whopper” but a gross lie and cover-up.

Perhaps if an RT Editor were at the Homestead as a debate moderator, he/she could have jumped right in and saved the day for McAuliffe!
What a great opportunity --- Missed!

The liberal media apparently is looking for every possible way to keep the Obama-Holder-Sharpton racial drums beating. Obama says he could have been Treyvon IF he had waited in a dark alley and then jumped upon a “White-Hispanic” man, pummeled him to the ground, slammed his head on the concrete and just before the “White-Hispanic” fell unconscious – he pulled out his legal-gun and fired “in self-defense”! All this because of racism and that darn stand-you-ground law; neither of which had anything to do with Zimmerman!

“Will the last honest, ethical, and completely professional journalist please turn out the lights? The pretense of an objective mainstream media is long over.

I was recently speaking with two editors from top-10 newspapers who by their own admission see the world from different ends of the political spectrum and yet both were bemoaning the state of their profession.

One — a bit right-of-center — complained how more and more reporters and editors are putting their ideology before their duties as journalists and skewing stories and "news" accounts to reflect or enhance that ideology.

The other — a bit left-of-center — mentioned how completely unfair it was that conservatives are purposely shut out of consideration for Pulitzer and Nobel prizes while admitting his paper refuses to report on that unassailable reality because of its own bias.

I have often said that human nature dictates that people love to embrace the truth right up until the moment it reflects poorly upon themselves or their cause. When journalists and editors deliberately ignore — or even work to discredit — the truth, then all of us pay a price no matter which party, cause, or issue we support.

It seems almost everything now in mainstream journalism and the media is viewed through an ideological prism. More often than not, a prism only admitting and spreading a liberal light.

What happened to journalists and editors simply doing their jobs and following only the facts to their natural conclusions? What happened to talking to both sides in a contentious or highly controversial issue and then doing some actual investigating to see which — if any — side was closer to the truth?

What happened to the hard-boiled city editors as played by Clark Gable in the movie "Teacher's Pet" who believed the only job of a journalist was to find out "who, what, when, where, and why," and leave all personal feelings and bias out of the reporting?

The betrayal of journalistic ethics is sadly on display every day. If it wasn't so serious and potentially damaging to our nation and our future, it would be laughable in its extreme.

Every single day we can read, watch, or listen to "journalists" saying: "Some on the right are claiming that Obamacare is falling apart, will have a negative impact on medical care, and will bankrupt our nation; some on the right are claiming that public-employee pensions are unsustainable and are outright destroying the budgets and services offered by various cities, counties and states and are most adversely hurting the poor; some on the right are claiming that the negative effects of global warming have been grossly exaggerated and that the 'greening' of our nation is a detriment to our citizens; some on the right are claiming that well over ninety percent of our college and university professors lean left-of-center and advocate discrimination against conservative or faith-based professors while indoctrinating students with only their approved ideology."

I have an idea. Instead of these journalists "claiming some on the right" are making these charges, why don't they actually get out of the liberal echo chamber and simply do some investigative reporting and then write on where those facts — and only the facts — take them?

Surely there must be some ethical and professional journalists and editors out there still willing to squash bias and report on the "who, what, when, where, and why," no matter where it leads them.”

Roanoke Times, 7-9-2013, Pg 13: Editorial: Refueling Interstate 73: “Readers” have not given up hope for the dormant interstate project (I73 Through Downtown Roanoke), and we join them in a desire for an economic boost.

Roanoke is on a roll! A fifteen million dollar space station crash-landed downtown and they call it a museum. Sixty-five million dollars spent on so called “flood control” that is primarily an incredibly expensive bike path when it’s not raining. And now let’s bring I-73 right through downtown Roanoke because we don’t have enough traffic, pollution, noise and accidents.

Have we not noticed that other communities ensure that interstates do NOT come downtown? Are there not by-passes for Danville, Martinsville, Lynchburg and most other “thoughtful” cities? And those who don’t have by-passes are working diligently trying to get one!
-
And who are these “readers” who pine for this albatross? What’s their world-view of how to help Roanoke?
The good news for Roanoke is one word: CARILLION!
They are bringing in good paying long term jobs and infrastructure.
They are the new shining star of the star city.
Focus on assisting their requirements and stop promoting negative projects.

Taxpayers paid over $65 MILLION dollars on River Bank Beautification!
There was no flood-control because we have log-perch and snail-darters. They are far more important than dredging down the river bottom and building containment walls to contain future floods.
What we did was waste $65,000,000 of tax-money on curb-side appeal.

Even the most naïve folks will understand this major malfeasance and misrepresentation of what was and was not done to contain real flooding conditions caused by hurricanes that come inland and then stall against the mountains and dump from one to two feet of rain in a very short time.

Felony charges were dropped on Thursday against a 20-year-old University of Virginia student who says she panicked when undercover agents from the state's Alcohol Beverage Control division mistook her water purchase for beer.

This is a very disturbing story given the car-jackings and crimes against young women.

Many law-enforcement agencies have advised drivers not to stop for “plain clothes persons driving unmarked cars”.
Their advice: drive safely to the nearest police station while calling 911 if possible.

And all this hysteria and trauma over what they “thought” was a six-pack of beer!

These Alcohol-Cops need to think about how they want police to interact with their sisters, wives and daughters on the streets at night!
